Peer Education Program re-certified
The College Reading and Learning Association's (CRLA) International Tutoring Training Program Certification has re-certified the Student Learning Commons' Writing and Learning Peer Education Program through 2023, providing a continuing endorsement of the quality of training that the Writing and Learning Peer Educators receive.
The CRLA is an internationally recognized certification body, providing tutoring program certification since 1989; there are currently more than 1100 post-secondary tutoring programs certified through the CRLA in the United States and worldwide. The SLC's Learning and Writing Peer Program has been continuously certified with CRLA since 2009, at levels 1 and 2 (Advanced).
New name: "Writing and Learning Peer Education Program"
With the current recertification comes a name change of the program to the "Writing and Learning Peer Education Program," reflecting the fact that writing support is the primary service provided by the Peers to SFU students.
