Visit our exhibit, Indomitable Spirit: Remembering Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on the 3rd floor of the W.A.C. Bennett Library for the rest of this month.

Dr.  A.P.J. (Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen) Abdul Kalam was a scientist, professor, and author, who started from humble beginnings to become the 11th President of India.

Dr. Kalam received 48 honorary doctorates, including one from Simon Fraser University in 2012.  His other honours include some of India’s highest civilian awards: Padma Bhushan (1981), Padma Vibhushan (1990), and Bharat Ratna (1997). 

His books have been translated in over 20 languages, providing inspiration to people worldwide.  This exhibit showcases some of his writings, including some of his most memorable quotes.
