Seed library

Published by Dipa Barua

Q: Does SFU have a seed library similar to other educational institutions such as UBC, BCIT, and Kwantlen University, promoting food security and exchange of seeds? And if not, is it possible to start this initiative at the SFU Burnaby Library? Currently, there is no seed library in the Burnaby area.

A: I'm afraid SFU Library does not have a seed library. We are a bit different from UBC or Kwantlen as SFU does not have an Agriculture program. On the good news front however, the BCIT seed library is open to anyone, and they are in Burnaby!

BCIT - "Be part of a community effort to conserve precious seed varieties: sign them out, grow, harvest, and pass them on to other gardeners. 'Borrowing' from the seed library is free, easy, and open to all members of the public. Learn more about how to check out seeds."
